Luminous Stretch Ceiling at Šypsenos Akademija Dental Clinic

A clean, minimalist, and highly functional ceiling solution for the reception area of Šypsenos Akademija — one of Lithuania’s leading dental clinic networks. The centrepiece of the design is a large-format luminous stretch ceiling installed directly above the reception desk, serving simultaneously as the primary light source and a striking architectural feature. The total luminous ceiling area is approximately 12 m².

Design Concept

The client required a lighting solution that would feel premium, welcoming, and uniform — free of harsh shadows or visible light sources. A light-transmitting stretch ceiling film was selected, tensioned within a precisely fitted perimeter profile that creates a sharp, clean edge with a subtle shadow line. The result is a glowing surface that appears to float above the space, perfectly complementing the all-white interior and the clinic’s refined brand identity.

Technical Execution

The luminous ceiling module was built using LED modules mounted on a custom-fabricated aluminum base behind the stretch film. The lighting delivers a soft, even, and non-glaring glow across the entire surface — essential for a medical environment where visual comfort is a priority. The perimeter profile ensures a perfectly straight finish at all four edges, including the angled corner visible from one side, which required precise mitered profile cutting and tensioning. The matte white stretch film used meets the required fire resistance and safety certifications.
